"Flower Study" - Carnation

I am starting a new artwork for my portfolio called "Flower Study".

I thought it would be interesting to individually collage twelve unique flowers. For each month of the year, there is a different flower that represents the seasons cycle.

By closely examining an individual flower on its own, you can see how all the petals are shaped to come together into its form. This is the perfect collaging opportunity to experiment with.

I finished collaging a pink Carnation which represents the month of January.

Once all twelve flowers have individually been collaged, I would like to somehow combine them all together on a 16" x 20" surface. I was thinking of having each flower on their own black or white surface with the opposite colour as the stem and leaves. The only colour in the collage will be from the flower petals.

The combination of modern black and white surfaces will mix with the elegant flowers to create a bold effect. I would to print the final image on metallic paper so everything is unified. To be continued...
